'bought the early release of this performance - which turned out to be unlistenable, just awful audio. I brought it up with them, but they seemed not to understand the complaint. Now, apparently, they've fixed the problem and it's fine, if not great, on Qobuz. My CDs still suck, though.

I don't know if it has changed, but there was a reissue of a rare LP on Record Store maybe four or five years ago (from a major label), and when it finally appeared digitally on Qobuz, it turned out to be a needle drop. 🙄 There were a few pops which were muffled when I played the digital version. (Makes no sense, as they obviously provided a master tape to Kevin Gray for mastering, yet all they could do was offer it as a needle drop?? But eh, that's Universal for ya.)

To their credit, I let Qobuz know. As expected, per their reply, they only reissue what the label provides them so it was beyond their control. But at least I made them aware of it. As big as Universal is, they really don't care what they put out, as long as they make money from it.
